COMMON INDOOR POLLUTANTS
Indoor air pollution is actually ranked among the top five environmental hazards by the Environmental Protection Agency. Because outdoor pollutants enter the home and stay, there is significantly more pollution in your home than outside.
Indoor pollutants that pose a daily threat to millions of Americans include:
Mold
Rust
Dust
Dander
Second hand cigarette smoke
Formaldehyde
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
Insect droppings
Many of these are invisible to the naked eye, such as mold spores or mildew. And some, like VOCs, can come from seemingly harmless things like new furniture. Some exposure to these contaminants is unavoidable, but too much exposure can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms.
Allergy symptoms
Flu-like symptoms
Dizziness and nausea
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Headache
